Additionally, conservatism supports the idea that the government should not deal itself in role such as helping individuals and opposes attempts to redistribute income between the wealthy and the poverty-stricken. Democrats are considered to be on the left side of the political spectrum and commonly referred to as the leftist while the republican are considered to be on the right.
